The foundations of The BoobyTraps were laid late in 2007 with the current lineup having been settled since 2008. The 'Traps' have been described as 'the next biggest thing to come out of Leicester since Kasabian.'

The BoobyTraps are:

Jamie Williams (Lead vocal and guitar)

Scott Laywood (Lead guitar)

Lewis Barrett (Bass)

Seb Kedziora (Drums)

In June 2008, The 'Traps recorded their debut EP at Deadline Studios Leicester. Entitled 'Sooner Or Later', it was followed by a launch night at The Charlotte Live Music Venue. That night saw the first live performance of the smash track 'My Town.'

In turn, over 100 copies of their debut EP sold that night. The title track 'Sooner or Later' was played the following week on local radio and front man Jamie Wiliams gave his first live radio interview. Although he didn't know it at the time!

In October 2009, work commenced on the band's second EP, 'Estate Of Mind'. This EP would include three of the band's best known tracks: 'Don't Even Matter', 'Tell Your Friends' and their own massive anthem 'My Town.'

All three tracks went on to receive regular radio airplay. The 'Traps have played main stage headline slots at Glastonbudget Tribute and New Act Festival 2010 and will be there again in 2011.

They have supported bands such as The Detroit Social Club, Little Man Tate's John Windle and fellow Leicester band The Screening. As a direct result of the DSC support slot, DSC's front man David Burn agreed to work with and record the 'Traps new material up in his Newcastle studio in July of this year.

In August 2010 the band was invited to play Leicester's Summer Sundae Fringe Festival at The Shed - the biggest capacity gig of the event. The 'Traps played alongside old friends, The Screening, The Little Night Terrors, and SuperEvolver.

They opened, played a storming set and truly raised their own bar yet again. The summer of 2011 will see the band embark upon some small local festivals including CosbyLove GlastonBlaby and gigs across counties in North Wales and Oxfordshire to increase their profile, exposure and fan base.

The band has also made submissions to play at Nottingham's Splendour and Leicester's Summer Sundae, as well as many other UK summer events. More and more are being added to the band's confirmed gig calendar.

In addition to the gigs, the band has also been recently featured on 103 The Eye FM and Takeover Radio. 103 The eyes 'Big E' has become a real fan! The band lists its influences from rock 'n roll to indie to britpop and metal, with bands such as Kasabian, Oasis, Pigeon Detectives, Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles, The Verve, The Rifles, The Undertones and The Jam all making their mark on the 'Trap's sounds.

Paul Mitchell writes:

As part of their return to the Leicestershire music scene, The BoobyTraps played to an intimate yet significant crowd at The Soundhouse on Wednesday night (2nd March), supporting Detroit Social Club. For those that are into music as much as train spotters are to trains, then you will know, having seen the 'Traps perform, that front man Jamie Williams strikes a gate indeed similar to the mannerisms and playing style of The Courteeners front man Liam Fray, but with the look and maturity of Liam Gallagher. Thankfully, without the attitude and upset of either!.

Jamie deserves to be that 'Rock 'n Roll Star.' As any knowledgeable Indie loving music fan would agree, the feel of Oasis, Kasabian, The Rifles and The Jam are apparent in the 'Traps. Even some tone of the 'Undertones!'

Yet the BoobyTraps bring their own style and sound to the party with simple guitar, coupled with lyrics who are like old easy going friends - very catchy hooks. The set included 'Tell me now', 'Take my heart', 'Believe', 'Don't ever let go' and finished with the smash 'Don't even matter.'

I managed to have a few words with the 'Traps after the show and the lads told me that there are some 'big things afoot.' Some studio time to lay down new material, the re-launch and reworking of some existing songs, which will all be available for digital download really soon.

In addition, more shows across the Midlands which will hopefully include some festival slots. Keep an eye on these fellers as they raise the bar to the next level.

The Boobytraps stepped up their speed yet again with a gig on Saturday 29th October 2011 at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool.

The band featured as part of an evening presented by JAR Music Live, a scouting event held on behalf of RCA Records and AMG Tour Supports. 'The Traps' took seventy of their Leicester fans up with them to attend the show.

This summer (of 2011) has seen the band play outdoor events up and down the country at Glastonbudget, Tribfest & Conwy River Rocks, to name but a few. In addition to this the band have played some high profile venues including Coventry's Kasbah Club twice and Liverpool's Lomax.

On the run up to Christmas 2011 the Boobytraps will be gigging at the prestigious Hope & Anchor in London Saturday 12th November and Birmingham's O2 Academy on Friday 3rd December.

A support slot to The Screening is also on the cards at Leicester's O2 Academy some time in February 2012. The band have also been busy with the Detroit Social Club's David Burn, recording new material in his Newcastle studio and plan more new material over the winter months.

Look out for their debut digital album Estate of Mind on iTunes, Napster, Spotify, all other online music stores and Amazon CD on demand. You can hear their streamed tracks on Reverb Nation.
