Art Exhibitions
Leicester's new theatre CURVE was the venue for an exhibition of art work for World AIDS Day. The exhibition was put together by Faith in People with support from LASS and TRADE and created by local young people living with HIV.
One part of the presentation was a washing line on which hung a series of t-shirts of all sizes, including one for a tiny baby. These has been made by young people to convey messages and feelings about the effect that HIV and AIDS has on people.
We present some of the t-shirts that could be seen at the Exhibition

The Exhibition has been mounted on the Mezzanine floor at CURVE.
Entry to CURVE and the Exhibition was free
The Exhibition ran from 28th November to 4th December 2009
A poignant exhibit was the quilt of hand made purses. Each purse was made by someone who had a relative or friend who had died as a result of the AIDS infection and contains an object of special significance that reminded the loved one of the person they had lost.
There were over 20 items in the Exhibition, some put together by organisations who care for people affected by HIV and AIDS.
The exhibition displayed the art works made by local young people whose lives have been affected by HIV.
One thread running through the art works was the message that this infection affects not only adults but also children. This was one of the more moving aspects of the art works.

A series of graffiti-style boards highlighted words that point to the experiences that people affected by HIV have to endure.
