SU is a national competition for live music bands, mainly in the rock genre.

Heats are held in various regions of the UK, including the Midlands Region.

In 2010 several bands from Leicester entered the competition a few made it through to the later rounds.

On Sunday 6th June, local bands Silent Resistance, Formal Warning and the Stiggz played at the Custard Factory in Birmingham, and all qualified for places at the regional semi-finals at the Asylum (also in Birmingham). Although the Stiggz did not achieve the highest audience vote, they did get the industry vote.
