Weekly shows at the Pavilion

The Pavilion's cafe offers hot meals and tasty snacks at very reasonable prices. So, if you are coming straight from work, have some food before or during the show.

The licensed bar offers a range of beers, wines and spirits as well as tea, coffee and other soft drinks.

Friday Nights - The Silver Bullet Battle of the Bands

From 7th October to 12th December, bands play in a competition, details of which are available from this web site.

Saturdays Nights - Bands

Dates and lineups for band nights

The Pavilion Venue is situated in the grounds of Victoria Park in Leicester, not far from the De Montfort Hall.

Since it changed hands, the new management have worked hard to make it into a live music venue. What was once the cafe for the Park is now a thriving venue with a bar and a menu of tasty meals and snacks. There is also a pool table and a large patio area with tables, chairs and parasols. Plus wide screen TV. Bands and artists love the Pavo's relaxed atmosphere and audiences tend to come and stay for the whole night.

Great for cheap beer and crunchy chips. The only place in Leicester where you can get an ice cream whilst watching a band!

Since it was taken over earlier this year, the new management have installed a stage, lighting and have refurbished the main room to give a more attractive ambience.

Live bands play every Saturday night *. FREE ENTRY - drinks offers - hot food all night - sweets, cakes and ice cream. First band plays at 8 p.m. Doors open 7 p.m.

Car parking for bands all night just outside the main entrance.

Wednesday Nights

Wednesday evening night for singers, acoustic artists, including duos or trios.

We also welcome rappers, instrumentalists, in fact any act that will appeal to an all-age audience.

Our Wednesday evenings will appeal to young artists who want to try out their skills in a safe and appreciative environment.

Doors open at 8 p.m. FREE ENTRY for both artists and members of the public.

Information for artists

We well welcome any singer who wants to drop in on a Wednesday evening on an open-mic basis. If you have equipment requirements or would prefer to book a slot, please phone Arts in Leicestershire on 07970 680 987 or contact the Pavilion on 0116 255 1027.

How to get to play at the Pavilion

Bands, solo artists and small acoustic groups are welcome to play at the venue. Live music guigs at the Pavilion are promoted by Silver Bullet Promotions.

Because the nights are free entry in order to maximise the number of people who attend, performance fees or travel expenses are not always available to bands. When enquiring about a gig, ask the promoter if he can help with petrol costs (but do that before you set off for a show.)

Bands do however get publicity from their performances and very often a series of free photographs of their set from our house photographer Sewell Photography

How to get to the Pavilion

The Pavilion is about 5 minutes drive, 10 minutes walk from Leicester's main railway station. It is located close to the A6, London Road, close to the University of Leicester and the De Montfort Hall.

If using SatNav enter LE1 7RY

If approaching the venue from London Road (A6) turn right into University Road, left into Regent Street and where Regent Street turns left into Granville Road, go straight across into the car park entrance. If approaching along London Road towards the city centre, you can turn left into Granville Road. You cannot turn right into Granville Road from London Road.

To enter the parking area outside of the venue's main entrance, from GRANVILLE ROAD enter the ground level Car Park. Drive round to the back of the car park where the railings are, and follow the railings down to the end. There you will find a gap through which you can drive along a pathway, towards the large white building which is the Pavilion. There are parking spaces in front of the main entrance.

Technical details for bands - equipment

The Pavilion provides a core drum kit (bass drum, 2 x rack toms and one floor tom) and vocals and instrument PA sound system.

But bands must bring with them:

- all cymbals and cymbal STANDS

- Snare drum AND STAND

- Kick pedal

- All the amps you need for your guitars and bass (unless you arrange to share with another band)

If you prefer to bring your own full drum kit - feel free

Bands stage - 12 feet by 10 feet, 8 inches high with fixed lighting.

Non-slip mat for drums

Drummers need to bring stool, kick pedal, cymbals and stands, snare and snare stand.

STANDS are not provided.

PA system

2 x Yamaha AX12 speakers, 12 inch cone x 1" VC, horn fw, 97 db sensitivity, 600 w max, 300 w program, 12 effects program, 4 line/mic inputs, 4 mic inputs, rec out, monitor out

Yamaha EMX 312sc mixer unit for vocal mics, guitar inputs, keyboard inputs, laptop inputs, can take large pin jacks and XLR jacks

Two mic stands and vocal mics. If you need more than 2 vocal mics you must let us know well in adance of your gig date. Bands can of course bring their own mics.

1 monitor for stage and 1 monitor for drummer

We do not mic up drums or amps

Sound engineer present throughout.
