Archive of bands prior to 2009

This page is mainly for historical information and not all bands listed here are necessarily still playing.

See our main list of all current original bands in Leicester - now on another page.

List of all pages concerned with rock music and bands

Leicester Bands

Punk rock, nu rock, metal, alternative, melodic, emo, classic, progressive, indie, ska, gothic ... Leicester is home to all kinds of rock music. With two live music venues playing bands almost every day of the week and many other venues playing bands at last once a week, there are lots of opportunities to hear live music.

Leicestershire is unusual in having a concentration of really good rock bands and several busy, live music venues offering regular rock gigs.

Some of the best rock bands in the UK have begun life in Leicester - Kasabian , the Displacements, to give two examples ... Most major bands have played at Leicester's live music venues at some time, including Blur, Coldplay, Primal Scream, Artic Monkeys, The Subways, Proud Mary and many more.

Actionforce

Originally a four member band formed two years ago. They describe themselves as "shoegaze", experimental. Now a five piece, they actually have a drummer! They used to rely on samples etc for beats but they have the real thing now... they have become a bit more electronic since doing the songs on myspace but havent moved too far away fromtheir shoegaze roots :). Actionforce are releasing a single (got got need) on cambridge label 'Isn't Anything' in august and recenty did a UK tour with notable dates supporting the Race, Elle Milano and Oppenheimer which all went down a treat.

Arms of Atlas

We started in the winter of 2008 from the demise of two local Leicester bands FreeFallFelix, Centauri and Milton Keynes based band Six Point Five.

Tyler, Ed, Sam, Jim and Mike set about to form a heavy rock band, with big guitar riffs, pounding drums and standout harmonising vocals whilst still 'serving the song' and that is what we think we have created!

We are constantly recording at our friends studio and rehearsing 3 to 4 times a week with the aim of having a debut c.d. out in the near future.

Arms of Cuba (r.i.p.)

Sadly, AOC has decided to call it a day. They will be missed and we thank them for the excellent gigs they have performed. They were a five piece band indie band playing original music.

Previously called Squid Ate Lucy, this five member indie band changed it's name to Autohype in late 2007. They have written and recorded several new songs, in order to capture a distinctive sound, more in keeping with their vision of the new band.

The use of a synth in many of their songs, closely orchestrated with their two guitars, has produced a rich and original sound. All five band members are students at Leicester University.

As Squid Ate, the band played at the 2007 Glastonbudget Festival. Now, as Autohype, the band is regularly playing gigs both in Leicester and elsewhere in the UK. They are signed to size records.

Their indie songs are characterised by memorable lyrics ("Is there any chance"), very danceable melodies and catchy hooks in the guitar riffs.

Backline

Market Harborough's claim to musical fame is that it is the base for one of Leicester's most exciting new wave bands - Backline. This band puts out a high level of energy, fuelled by the amazing vocals of lead singer Chris. This is one of Leicester's hotest young bands and certainly one for A&R scouts to watch.

After recruiting guitarists Matt and Adam in early 2005, BackLine started gigging heavily across the Midlands. They began to take things a hell of a lot more seriously which then paid off, as they wrote new, improved and generally much better songs. Thus, this led to the band gaining a strong fan base in their local Leicestershire area and across the Midlands.

BackLine recorded a new E.P, in October 2006 at Deadline Studios, with Adam Ellis (producer of My Awesome Compilation). Backline's Debut Demo E.P titled "Make It Last" containing 6 tracks came out in December 2006. BackLine's main influences are Feeder, Foo Fighters, Papa Roach and Creed.

An energetic four piece heavy metal band from Leicester that produce stunning live performances. Sadly they broke up but at least one of them went on to join another band.

The Chairmen

The Chairmen are one of Leicester's outstanding bands. Their ability to write hit songs marks them out as being one of the most popular and tuneful bands in the County.

The five band members discharge a stream of catchy and highly polished songs. Their songs have a widespread appeal and they claim to have invented the musical idiom of "turbo-folk". Definitely a premier league band with a future. They know how to work an audience and there is always a great sense of occasion when they play a gig. They have a massive following and can draw some of the largest crowds any of our local unsigned bands.

Hinckley based indie rockers, the five lads have achieved a great deal since they started out. They were the national winners of the Surface Unsigned festival 2008, beating thousands of other bands for the coveted top prize. They have supported top bands such as The Wombats, The Rumble Strips, Kula Shaker, Good Shoes, The Displacements, and The Young Knives.

Chimpanzees

Four member band formed in December 2007 but with members who previously played in other bands. Describing their music as power-pop and "sludge", their crazy humour belies their strength as a band. Influences from Sonic Youth, Devo, Kyuss, Pixies, through to the Ramones and even Tina Turner are quoted by band members as having fed their musical tastebuds. Craig's synth and keyboards adds a big layer of sound to the bass of Aaran and guitar work of Ben, pushed along by the drumming of Ryan ( 'Fuk Stick'). The band plays its own songs on the whole but might throw in a cover or two if needs be. The band played a qualilty set at the Pavilion on 6th September and has played the Charlotte and Sumo. An album is being planned. A band with a high energy set of songs with a fist full of originality and creative mayhem, great set to listen to live and a band well worth supporting. The Deadlock

Dead Slow

Bringing together the weirdness of Radiohead, the urgency of Muse, and the rough edges of Pavement, Leicester's Dead Slow generate their own twisted-but-tuneful sound that keeps your mind guessing and your ears ringing. Deap People

Formed, we are told, by musicians from Ego Armalade, they already have a prestigious list of gigs over the summer and a really great set of songs.

Death of London

Four member progressive band signed to a couple of record labels. As we said in our review of their set at the Pavilion earlier this year ...

pumping out shovel loads of sound, their distinctive, short songs served up some delightful cocktails of punk, metal and progressive sounds. Like the bands that followed them, Death of London have devoted themselves to breaking with conventions. Heavy staccato beats, overlaid with shouts and yells, underpinned by pounding drums and lots of yearning, distorted bass riffs, it was a set in its own class.

Sinister opening riffs followed by tightly pinched rhythms. Lots of stops, fragment the songs into wedges of sound. At one point the backline stopped and the band members did a spot of accappello chanting. Their songs evoke something primal, even tribal.

Death of London

Deceptikon

Metal/rock band at the melodic end of the spectrum, with four members who formed in 2006. They have produced an EP and a video. T-shirts available

The bands myspace seems to have been deleted. If anyone knows whether this band is still in operation, please let us know. Ed. Nov 08.

Desparados

De Sade

De Sade

The Dirty Backbeats

Legendary band describing themselves as "a high octane 5 piece combo from Leicester blending Beefheart's mystic blues skitz, Love's RnB infused psychedelia and a healthy dose of English eccentricity." Good summary. Highly original songs and performance from leader singer Grant, the Backbeat's show brings something completely different. Having been playing for about five years or more, they have achieved a national reputation. Their songs have been played by Steve Lamaq, Rob Da Bank, Marc Riley and Huw Stephens on BBC 1 and 6. Influences from Kings of Leon and The Cramps can be seen in their work. Grant's vocal performance is blissfully manic and riotously theatrical but it perfectly depicts the music. Here is one group of musicians that are definitely not content to tread the well-worn paths of conventional rock music. However odd and fragmented their sets appears to be when you see it for the first time, its easy to let go and get drawn into an exciting and unusual musical experience. Even though they are not signed, the band has an enviable reputation.

The Dirty Backbeats

Displacements (Now called Little Night Terrors)

Displacements | The Displacements in Wikipedia | Down and Out Video on Youtube

The band has played the Shed, The Queen Vic and the Pavilion and their aim is to keep playing and writing new songs. As a band they have carved out their own musical niche of alternative, experimental and theatrical songs that is characteristically their own and ideosyncratic. Rather than carrying around musical baggage from mainstream conventions, their almost cabaret-like act provides a provocative yet exciting experience, pushing boundaries to bring audiences something completely different. Joe's amazing vocals add a lot to the to the moody, atmospheric set of songs and, as one member of another band put it after their set, "fucking brilliant", which summed them up nicely. They have started playing in Leicester and have met with a bunch of favourable comments, following their gig at the Queen Vic on 6th September 2008. They went out with the intention to entertain at gigs, because they knew they could, with a strong performance background. Influences are derived just from general people, funny people, actors, musical theatre actors, composers and son on. Next year, the band hopes to carry on having as much fun making the music and playing gigs and entertaining as many people as they can hopefully in increasingly bigger and better venues.

Excellent guitar ideas, from complex, interesting basslines to progressive, winding guitar solos they created satisfying tracks, and played with skill and precision. Solid percussion from Shaun and a strong rock n roll voice from Guy completed some well-written and well-structured songs. Clearly having impressed the other bands, they went through to the second round on the musicians vote." (BBC). In the short time the band has been together their accomplishments include- an excellent performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, a fantastic demo recorded at Blitz records in Coventry and an original sound thats got more than potential. Formal Warning

Braunstone based Formal Warning are a phenomenon. This young band suddenly burst on the Leicester live music scene earlier this year and wow'd everyone with this astounding 'X-factor' performances and enjoyable songs. Since their first gig they have won through to the grand final of the SB Battle of the Bands and won themselves a place at the Glastonbudget festival.

They have played at the Pavilion, The Shed, The Charlotte, The Loaded Dog and a variety of other venues and every appearance they made has been a fantastic show. The young quintet has a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm and lead vocalist Ash gives a thrilling amount of stage presence every time he takes to the stage. The band is always accompanied by a crowd of fanatical fans who totally adore their band and always go mad at every show.

Formal Warning have composed some top class songs of their own but they also play some huge pop classics such as 'The Boys of Summer' and 'Summer of 69', which they pull off remarkably well.

Ash is backed up on the stage by Kyle and Leon who dance and jump around, whilst Zoe pounds away on the drums, supported by Alun on the guitar. The band's influences are easy to see in their style of playing: Angles and Airwaves, Blink 182, the earlier Greenday, My Chemical Romance and Kids in Glass Houses.

Although still new and lacking some of the 'gig miles' of other young local bands, Formal Warning has got off to a cracking good start and the more people that discover this gem of a band, the more their fan base will grow.

Full Circle

Hardcore punk band wih four members, they draw their influences from Pennywise, Strung Out, Rise Against, loads more! Based in Loughborough they formed three years ago. Awesome drumming from Danny and strong vocals from James. Serious punk! Full circle are, in our view, of the best nu punk bands around. Their music is like a fierce engine driving out fast, throbbing tunes and electric riffs, backed by tight but frenetic drumming. These guys are a dedicated team who are justly proud of what they achieve. Even to those who are not devotees of punk, this is one exciting band, whose gigs are always an awesome experience.

The Fusions

A four member indie band with lead singer Kat Oram backed by all three of the other members of the band. Catchy tunes and a strong stage prescence make this a very enjoyable band. Their flagship song "naked in the ktichen" is popular with their fans, who sing along with it and it's got a good chanty chorus.

The Fusions

The Fuss

The band formed about two years ago but the current lineup was put together in August 2008. The band made its debut at Melton's Big Night Out 5 in October '08. The pop rock quartet just play what they think is good and judging by their music they know what is good. Over the next few months the band plans to do some decent recordings to replace the rough cuts current on their Myspace. The band also played at Big Night Out 6 and in October '08 they performed at the Valefest event. They competed in the Live and Unsigned competition, where they performed at The Assembly in Leamington Spa and The Corn Exchange in Bedford. They got through to the semi-finals of the competition and also played at a private function at the National Space Centre in Leicester.

The Fuss are on a par with other young bands such as Astromaniacs, Third Time Lucky, The Hordes and Beauty Killed the Beast. These are bands with considerable talent, making great strides despite comparatively little experience but they clearly have a strong sense of what good music is all about and have star quality and lots of future potential.

Herbedacious

Acoustic folk rock band formed in 2004. Herbedacious have their own musicial style which combines acoustic folk/blues/rock with a dash of country. Based in Leicestershire, the Herbs create their own material and love to please their audience.

Herbedacious

The Heroes

Four member indie rock band; now with new drummer Craig Blockley and bassist Alister Lee, most observers see the band as having a fresher, much improved and tighter sound. The band recently competed in the OBS showcase at the Shed. 'Lead singer and rythm guitarist Alex Totman works alongside lead guitarist Alex "rooster" Van Roose to weave the vocals of the Heroes, with a stuccato style, almost speaking rather than singing the lyrics. The band lists amongst their numerous influences, The Arctic Monkeys, The Libertines, The Fratellis, the Cribs and so on.

So, here is a four member band with two lead singers, making catchy dance songs and busily touring the local gig haunts, after only a few months of being on the road. The Heroes ooze with stroppy talent and meticulous hairstyles but with a few more playing hours under their belt they will undoubtedly head for the big time.' Strong stage presence, irresistable rythms and a burning desire to succeed.

A young band that has developed strongly over the past year, the Heroes have now become a major force on the Leicester rock scene. Having written a set of modern indie songs, they have demonstrated considerably ability as composers, matched by their great stage presence.

Their catchy, dance tunes have won them a following amongst the rock devotees of Leicester. The band failed to get through to finals of the Original Bands Showcase, being eclipsed by M48 and the Codes. Even so, they easily won a place at the Summer Sundae Weekender, where they are billed to open the main stage on the first day of the festival.

The Heroe's songs are joyous and just the kind of lyrics and tunes that makes their audience want to song along or get up and dance. They are a band with a massive amount of potential and promise and their songs mark them out as very able and successful music makers. As we have said before, they could easily be heading for the big time.

The Heroes

Herra Hidro

Kids in Cars

Hinckley based four piece indie band Kids in Cars have recently emerged as one of the most promising bands in the county, though they have been around since 2007.

Not only do they write appealing, memorable and catchy songs but they perform them exceedingly well. The vocals of front man James Stafford are very engaging - his quality voice is plied skillfully with the backing of a very tight group of musicians. KIC's songs are modern indie and comparable favourably with the best songs being released now from the top indie bands.

They might not emulate the frenetic stage acrobatics of some bands, they might not slap the ear with penetrating decibels of noise, but their songs are totally spot on.

Tasting of Radio Head, Elbow and the early Pumpkins, their melodic tunes and intriguing lyrics captivates the listener and their measured and restrained delivery are in keeping with the alternative, progressive style of indie that they engender. The long incubation period spent refining their sound has paid off. They now have their own distinctive sound and a cart load of creative and original musical ideas. There is a passion, energy and freshness behind what they are doing and that will carry them a long way.

Kids in Cars is very likely to attract a sizeable following as well as attention from the industry. Certainly a band to watch over the coming months.

Their style of ambient, electro pop places them on the edge of the mainstream of rock and yet they clearly have a large and devoted following in the UK. Kyte play music to listen to; it's not party dance music and no mosh pit will ever form at one of their gigs. But for people who are musically sophisticated, the reflective tracks are a great pleasure. Read our review of Kyte's set at the De Montfort Hall.

The Penny Hangers

The Pennyhangers have not been playing for that long, having started out in November 2007, but have now emerged as one of the leading indie bands in Leicester. What makes them stand out is their ability to write crackingly good songs.

They are thoroughly able musicians and members of other bands often turn out to their gigs to see them play - always a good sign. Lead singer James Percy and bassist Paddy Steel are old friends and have been in a previous band together. PHs is a band that enjoys a large and dedicated following, who go to all their gigs whether in Leicester or out of town. The band is due to play the Glastonbudget festival in May 2009.

They have appeared live on Radio Leicester and other stations. They are now finding that they can get good out of town gigs in key venues, as their reputation grows.

If you are wondering where the strange name comes from, it is explained on their myspace page. It kind of reflects the rock and roll lifestyle of the band members and their army of adoring fans. The band also benefits from a very busy and able manager - Blake Edwards - who works diligently for the band, arranging their gigs, publicity and transport.

We think that Pennyhanger's songs are so good that they are one of the Leicester bands likely to get signed in the year ahead.

The Pickpockets

The Pickpockets originally got together in January 2008 with Omar, Glenn and another friend. Glenn invited John down to a practice session where they decided to add him into the band. After agreeing on Pickpockets as the band name, the original drummer left and for a few months the band split up. When Omar wrote songs, he occassionally showed John what he'd written.

Around September Glenn, Omar and Dave were playing in the studio at college, where they snuck John in and played half of a song before the music technician told them to clear off.

Omar booked a room a practice room for that Saturday and they've never looked back since.

Quaternary Limit - r.i.p.

now defunct but the same group have reformed under the name The Jacaranda Chaos Band - listed in the previous page

Four member indie band with some very memorable songs. Good sounds and much loved by fans and other bands alike. "Featuring superb guitarists and fine vocals, this indie band has a hint of punk about it. They have a busy summer playing Leicester venues, which is great because they have some great songs for us to listen to, such as "Gimme Some Love" sung by James Robinson, lead vocalist.

Radio Collective

Originally going by the name ''Radio Collective'' the band played both the local and national scene, blowing away small but faithful crowds with their craft. Songs such as the piano led and reminiscant ''Too late to Change'', the pulse racing energy of ''Love Song'' and the semi-biopic inner city portrayal of ''Urban Sonnet'' make their music stand out in a world full of bands that simply sound the same.

Ricochet

We are Ricochet and we are pretty new to the Leicester scene and have been together for a few months now. We are all 17 and are good friends of the Pickpockets.

We have played a couple of gigs at The Shed and The Musician and have recorded one of our tracks yesterday titled 'Ready, Aim, Fire'. It is now up on our profile because we only created a myspace recently.

We are in the process of getting to know people and trying to play as often as possible to get our music heard.

Rider

Powerpop band with five members. From the very beginning, their intentions were clear: to form a band with both ability and experience ... a band which would be respected by fellow musicians. More importantly, a band which the UK can be proud to call their own! With the "masterplan" firmly set in stone, Rider embarked on what is proving to be an exciting and challenging journey. April 2007 saw the release of the highly anticipated debut EP 'Rider', which received radio airplay within the first two weeks of release, and has been heavily compared to the early work of the Manic Street Preachers;which comes as a huge compliment to the band!

Backed by three superbly good musicians, this is one of the most promising of our local hard rock bands. Hard working and dedicated guys, they have recently recorded an EP. Since their formation in 2004, the band has changed the lineup a couple of times, but now they are offering some epic gigs, with their melodic songs, classic guitar sounds, searing riffs, chugging baselines and pounding drums. Always a winner at every gig they play, Set In Stone is one of the ace bands within its genre and style.

This six piece band from Leicester University played at the Shed on 10th June. Sons of ITTO

Three member "No Wave" rock band. Hailing from the three corners of the UK, Sons Of Itto write, perform and record alternative music. Think Sonic Youth jamming out Pixies songs and you get the gist; but still don't come close to the immense wall of melodic white noise this trio can produce. To quote Martin Young from fanzine Elephant Juice. ".an half hour shock and awe campaign of 'sonic freak-outs', that will put ideas in your head and faith in your chest". Sons Of Itto are also the resident band of the Leicester music venue Firebug hosting their own monthly night on Wednesdays.

The Steptoos

A top class band with a crackingly good set of songs and some sparkingly good sounds, this is a band that really gets a gig to take off.

The Hinckley five peice is a band with a set of amazingly good songs - 'Out Tonight' is a geezer rock classic, with a catchy ska beat sprinkled into the chorus.

A band with a set of star musicians, they know how to blend instruments to make captivating sounds. Vocalist Ollie also puts on some marvellous solo appearances and when playing with the band wips out a harmonica in between playing the guitar and singing.

The Steptoos are a band with a very modern set of songs, and you can hear influences ranging from Oasis through to the Pigeon Detectives. Crisp, clear vocals where you can hear all the words are intoned with a vaguely northern rock accent. Listen to 'Girl You Amaze Me' - you'll see what I mean and checkout the soaring backing sound. Subjects of the City

James Brookes Buckley (born in Audenshaw, Manchester) attended Leicester University where he formed a group called Saint Simon. Performing the main Leicester circuit they were seen and hired by bar promoter Andrew Tomlinson who quickly became a valuable exporter of the band’s music. They continued the group throughout University, both attending midlands Universities. Not long after Saint Simon disbanded and James became the drummer for Corky’s Alibi. James and Jimmy found they had an uncanny love for similar music and they quickly became a tight musical unit often practising on their own (a la White Stripes).

Steve and Jimmy forged on, building a strong repertoire and crafting a new sound. They became Subjects of the City (the name inspired by the great Twentieth Century artist, George Grosz) shortly after recruiting new drummer Steve Billingham. After recording one EP with Billingham, They Dream Tomorrow, the band reached a hiatus and parted company with their drummer. Shortly afterward, James Brookes Buckley (who had resisted the lure of playing rock music for two years), was recruited and resulted in a vast overhaul of the band’s sound and two new EPs, One Cure For Man and The Age of Amnesia. After building a strong live reputation and attracting attention of the press, Subjects of the City are now working towards recording their debut album to be finished in early 2009.

Sunflower

is a new and delightfully different band. Their brand of funky, jazz rock fusions is in the mould of Pink Floyd, Courtney Pine and John Coltrane, with a hint of El Pussycat thrown in. They are not the only band with a female sax player (q.v. Pressure) but in their case they have made good use of the brass section to forge an emjoyable set of songs, ably delivered by Lead singer Tom Hackwell.

Sunflower

Surrender The Coast

Formed in December 2009, Surrender The Coast have, in the short time they have been active, earned themselves the reputation of being one of Leicester's most exciting bands. The six peice band recently, booked and supported Shadows Chasing Ghosts at a private party in Leicester. Shadows Chasing Ghosts were so impressed that they have asked the band to support them when they will play the new 02 Academy Leicester when it opens in September.

The band have also secured a slot supporting Memphis May Fire, Broadway, Evita and Elijah in Reading this coming October, as well as having supported acts such as Maths, Jairus, Blakfish, The James Cleaver Quintet and Cats & Cats & Cats.

Surrender The Coast have been likened to early Alexisonfire / Emarosa / Deaf Havana, and hope to keep growing and progressing as a band. Obviously, this takes a lot of hard work, which of course they are willing to do. On June 21st they will be releasing their self funded debut EP 'Avert Your Eyes', a four track CD that is the culmination of months of writing and honing the songs so that they are exactly what the band wants them to be.

Sweet Lady

Four member band playing their own classic style rock songs. Having formed in February 2006, the band's talented lead singer Stef D'Cruz has written many of the songs they perform. In doing this, Stef has been influenced by Freddy Mercury and Queen. Guitarist and vocalist Matt Lonsdale is also a gifted song writer. These highly talented musicians and singers put on a great show, and audiences clearly love their songs and quality vocals. The band is unusual in having piano and keyboards by Stef D'Cruz. Although a young band, these guys are making music that sounds like they have been playing for years. Sweet Lady is following in a great rock tradition but also clearly has broken the mould in what they are achieving musically.

A five member band from Leicester who play a mixture of their own songs and covers. They have established themselves as a busy and popular band, having formed in the summer of 2007. They write their own songs and perform some well known covers, such as Bob Marley's 'No Woman, No cry'. Lead singer Chrissie joined the band in the spring of 2008 and Siobhan was soon to follow as their resident drummer and Nick on bass. Tired Irie

This band has split up (July '09)

Four member indie band, signed to Try Harder Records. NME said that they "...boast a sparkly party rollock" and went on to say "As sweatily kenetic as they are artfully tuneful .. Tired Irie has supported Does it Offend You, Yeah? and nearly got on to a lineup with Crystal Castles. Manchester Music glowed: " This is the first band at least recently, if not ever, to successfully combine serious electro funk disco with an eerily contagious indie rock sensibility. Mindblowing material from the Leicester quartet." Their songs echoe Foals, Hot Chip and Kings of Leon. Healthily original, it think it will be soon that some bands will be quoting Tired Irie in their influences.

Toxin

When Toxin played at the Shed tonight, finding that one expression was easy: "exhilarating". Toxin are a band of young musicians who show wagon loads of potential. Toxin are a band that offer an exiting cocktail of Metal blended with lashings of punk and classic rock. It is now only July and this band started playing only "earlier this year" and yet I have heard bands twice their age do half as well at making music. The band has two ace guitarists, Ben and Mark, who put many a string player in the shade with their fingering fireworks. When they were up on the stage at the Shed you sensed a group of young guys who were genuinely enjoying what they were doing.

So after after only a few months of playing these brilliant young guitarists look set to soar upwards to lofty heights. Fast moving songs with lots of sparkling riffs and complex passages of sound, Toxin sprinted through their tracks, showering the audience with rocket trails of brightly coloured guitar passages, backed by Chris's frenetic drumming and cunning bass lines from Matt.

Toxin is a band with that "world is our oyster" vision of what they can achieve. They found themselves on the main stage at the Glastonbudget Festival earlier this year, shortly after having played their audition gig, with festival organisers cooing over their youthful talent. Their dream is to support Iron Maiden. Hopelessly naive? In the world of rock, anything can happen. I think if Bruce Dickinson or Steve Harris were in the audience tonight they would be saying to their manager: "get these kids on with us". They would have loved them.

The Working Projects

The band was formed in the summer of 2008 on the sands of Deauville in France. Joseph Faulkner and I, James Sides, met on the beach for the first time and found in conversation that we lived only a few miles apart in Leicestershire. We shared the ambition of a band and decided to put one together when we returned home.
We recruited friends Joe Laurence and Matt George for drums and bass and began jamming out songs, gigging and recording.

We play reverent folk songs with playful guitars. We have played gigs in Leicester and Northampton venues such as Sumo and Roadmender and are soon to play our first gig in London. Our ambitions for the band are telepathy and the most perfect and pleasant delusion we can manage.
