All those who work on it are volunteers. We do not have any paid jobs. Artsin Magazine is run by Artsin Productions, a social enterprise run for the benefit of the local community. See the background on our About Us page The volunteer vacancies offered below are opportunities for people who have some spare time, who want to get involved on a voluntary basis, or occasionally contributing to its content in order to further their CV or to gain experience. We provide full support and training for our volunteers including references if required. Most of the work can be done at home if you have a computer connected to the Internet. Current volunteer vacancies Editor, Weekend SupplementWe are looking for an editor for our magazine within a magazine: The Weekend Supplement. The Supplement covers arts, entertainment and leisure over Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. All aspects of the arts and entertainment - broadly defined - are covered by the Supplement. In the WS we try to give a general picture of activities, events and people, adopting more lively style and writing for the general reader. The role of the WS Editor is to plan the content of the section, set its editorial focus (in consultation with the general editor) and either write the material or commission work from other volunteers. The skills required for this role are good writing skills, a passion for journalism and an eye for detail. We recommend that anyone who is interested reads as much as possible of the pages in the WS. We cover a broad range of musical styles. In return you will get free entry to the show but you must be able to file your report soon after the show. If you are good at writing and have a critical faculty for music, please contact us and say what kind of music you like most, quoting reference If you are attending a show we can arrange for a photographer to be there or you can take your own photos. During the summer we cover festivals such as Glastonbudget, Download and Summer Sundae. Ref: AL02 Feature writerWe are looking for a person who is interested in the arts and good at writing. One of the main content elements of the magazine is feature articles. The job of a feature writer is to research specific arts related topics, write copy and provide any illustrative graphics such as photos. In some cases this might involve doing interviews with artists. In some cases this could involve doing interviews, but not always. We have a team of photographers available when needed. This role provides a good opportunity for someone wanting to establish their reputation as a journalist. Once created, feature pages stay up indefinitely. This can provide valuable opportunities to strengthen a CV. Please contact us quoting reference Ref: AL06 Advertising ManagerWe are looking for someone with high levels of internet and IT literacy to help develop revenue from advertising on the magazine. Remuneration can be paid by results achieved. This part time position will be of interest to those wishing to increase their skills and knowledge of online advertising. References may be given to any future employer and engagement in this work will be good for those wanting to enhance their CV. On the job training will be given. Face to face contact with local businesses to sell advertising space can also be part of this role. If you are a born writer and want to contribute news stories, please contact us quoting reference. This can involve either desk-based news gathering or live event news reporting. Ref: AL04 VideographersWe are looking for people who have access to broadcast quality video equipment to film live arts events and interviews with artists. Ref: AL07 Bands liaisonVolunteer wanted to keep in touch with Leicester rock bands. This involves contacting bands, finding out what they are doing and reporting back, editing bands news and keeping the magazine informed about all aspects of band life in Leicester/shire. Ref: AL08 Events assistantWork with our live events team to mount gigs, exhibitions and meetings in Leicester. A great way to learn about promotions and event management.
