We went to the launch of the latest showing organised in the Malcolm Arcade as part of the Art for Change series of Exhibitions, under the curatorship of Alex Serrano.
Artists from DeMontfort University were on show as well as those from Hong Kong, Spain and the Philippines.
The exhibition will run for four weeks at Malcolm Arcade in the heart of the Markets area of Leicester.
Tonight's launch party attracted a large number of visitors and a band was on hand to entertain them with live music.
Magnus Gestsson was at the launch with his Galleri Gestur/Gallery Guest Farandgalleri/Touring Gallery. The work on show was by the artist and musician Mellow Bakhu Born of the same mother.

Upon arrival at The Leicester Creative Business Depot, a series of intricately woven pencil drawings by, Teodora Kuzmanova, held my interest. Her work previewed in the Pedestrian Gallery on the 23rd of February, and will be displayed there until the 27th, providing ample time for the public to view her work. The artist's multifaceted imagery lined the walls of the gallery, revealing a different story within each new drawing. The work emulated much conversation and discussion within the venue as Teodara Kuzmanova herself explained her work's purpose and commented on the time and patience required within each drawing. Moving further into the event, I rejoiced at the excellent selection of tiny and delicious foods, from undersized quiche to miniature vegetable parcels, the shrunken buffet was a feast for the masses. Individuals from Leicester's creative industries populated the room; from Claire Hudson to Karen Preston, they discussed and considered one another's work. After the customary mingling, several members of the event made speeches regarding their jobs roles and any upcoming events. These speakers include Julia Halfmor, the New Marketing and Development Manager of the LCB Depot, whose job consists of maintaining the LCB as a venue, ensuring the cafeteria, the work spaces and exhibition spaces are all in working order. The LCB is also encouraging the public to provide feedback concerning the development of the business, for instance, providing a hot desking system, a lounge facility and a postal address service. Karen Preston, from Leicestershire Adult Learning Centre shared information about the available apprenticeships in Business administration and IT support where they also offer NVQ qualifications. Claire Hudson, a representative from Creative Leicestershire, informed the public of the available mentoring schemes they offer. The scheme welcomes performers, writers, and people involved in the visual arts and crafts who wish to be mentored and create a business plan. The deadline for this opportunity ends on the 13th April. An abundance of information and creativity was shared this evening, laden with insightful individuals and enthusiastic minds; overall it was an enriching and fruitful night out. Earl Shilton GalleryArt In Earl Shilton, was founded by the Earl Shilton Business Forum in March 2010.The Gallery was born from a scheme to regenerate empty shops in the town and is run on a voluntary basis by seven local Artists including Helen Watson-Jones. They are pretty proud of their achievements in keeping the Gallery going and are now looking for new Artists to join them. Artists must commit to at least half a day manning the Gallery in exchange for the opportunity to display their work for sale. More information from Helen Watson-Jones's web site.
